Colleagues,                            AGain the fcc is dealing with the "white space" issue which       is so problematic to those of us who use a lot of wireless       to ship audio around. This especially impacts the large       venues and the film sound people, but we're all going to       bump up against it sooner or later if we or any of our       clients want to go wireless.              I noted this the other day when somebody posted the url to a document about it       from the fcc, presumably from the fcc       daily digest. I didn't post it here as it would have been       word wrapped to pieces, but you can use your favorite search engine to search       usenet and find it in rec.audio.pro if you       haven't already seen it.              I've maintained for years now that the failure of many users to actually fill       out that fcc form that came with their       wireless products and submit it was going to reach out and       bite us, and within the last couple of years I've ben proved right on that       one. With the vacation of spectrum by       television channels along with their move to digital there's been quite a       number of folks clamoring to get their hands on that spectrum.              In the early days of the white space proposals brought forth by google and       others some articles regarding its impact were posted in the usenet group       rec.arts.movies.production.sound, and reposted in this forum before it was a       listserv as well. IF you serve customers or clients that need a lot of       wireless you may need to give a bit of attention to this if       you haven't already.                            Regards,        Richard       ---        * Origin: (1:116/901)    |
