I am too, but I think they were getting the transport stuff
down, letting folks use commonly available mic pre front
ends that offer litepipe, then designing good low noise pres themselves for
the front end if the market took off.
Somehow though I don't think it's taken off quite like they
hoped. I've even queried dealers who seemed to have an ear
to what's coming down the pipe as to what's still in the
golden vaporware stage of digital stage development, and
there's honestly little going on there, which is a big
surprise to me. YOu and I both agree that those big bundles of copper would
be one of our first things to go on our wish lists.

I would have probably done the same in their shoes (the
audiorail folks that is) and left the design of the tails,
which are going to have to have the mic amp somewhere to
others. Building high quality mic amps seems to be an
arcane art in and of itself. Folks who do it well get a lot of kudos from the
production community, and that would be a
nut I wouldn't want to crack while getting the signal
transport stuff rigt. Old adage goes about how you eat that elephant, one
   bite at a time.

   Regards,
              Richard
