REPLY: 2:230/0 5f6c66c9       MSGID: 1:153/7001.2989 5f6cb014       CHRS: UTF-8 4       RFC-3339: 2020-09-24 07:41:24-07:00       Hey Benny!               BP> i see none on slackware64/current, maybe just framebuffrering        BP> starts to late in kernel              Yes but it does work as advertised using astdrmfb and has worked with at least       one version of i915drmfb using 4.x kernels so I suspect that isn't the case       ... or so it would seem. I still haven't got a 5.8.x kernel booting on an       older intel gpu so I haven't checked if it is a generic i915 issue of perhaps       just the Intel Corporation UHD Graphics 630 (Desktop 9 Series), which does       give some firmware loading errors in dmesg no matter what kernel version, even       ones where there isn't any issues with mplayer's "-vo fbdev2" switch. As of       today I am still guessing and have noticed some incrimental improvements in       performance from 5.8.0 up to 5.8.10, so I suspect that it will eventually get       fixed. I am less worried about the bootup penguins but would appreciate       seeing them again. As of 5.8.10 there are still 8 penguins on bootup on the       astdrmfb based motherboard which happens to be what is used on many good       quality server boards, including amd epyc systems with the potential for 128       penguins on bootup. :::evil grin:::              A bit too rich for me though.              Life is good,       Maurice              ...
