   Why RPM?  dpkg offers similar functionality.  I will use systems that use   
   either.

   Sadly, seems to be a dying breed these days, with systemd taking over on a lot   
   of distros.  I haven't got my head around systemd, but know one of these days I   
   really need to get to know it, because like it or not, I will be using systems   
   that are based on systemd.   
      
   That said, I quite like SysV init.  It's straightforward and orderly.  Most of   
   my systems still use it.
