   I'm also using something similar in some old backup scripts: 'mirrordir',   
   which I don't think is the same as your 'mirdir'. Which also seems to suffer   
   from a 32 bit problem, because it doesn't handle files over 2GB in size.   
      
   Nowadays I always use rsync...
