   I dunno - easiest thing to do then is NOT to put on the patch, plug in   
   the iPod and see if it gtkpod doesn't locate it. It will show up in   
   dmesg but there will NOT be, if you have the default action set, an   
   icon on the Desktop. If that is the case, you'll need the patch.
