   Useful under windows probably; and in case you have linux installed   
   without LAMP. Otherwise I would spend <1 hour installing ubuntu 6.xx LTS   
   and with 1 restart you'll have your localhost up and running. In my   
   opinion PhPmyadmin requires some extra attention but thats step 3.

   yes exactly. one might use it as a live server as well, but it's very   
   useful as a testing server at home. Localhost.
