   I didnt realize the was the issue, I thought it just wouldnt start at   
   all, sorry, I missed the auto part of your post.

   Well, IF it wasnt starting at all, starting from a terminal will   
   sometimes yield a clue to the issue by providing errors usually hidden   
   when run from an icon.

   So the issue is you want it to start up with gnome?   
      
   System > Preferences > Sessions   
      
   Click over to startup programs, click add and add the application.
