   But, we don't want to talk about 'spoken of' so much as what you see in   
   your own experience.   
      
   Do you have the experience of running xp 'quite successfully' on the   
   same machine which you have the experience of running ub Gnome not as   
   successfully?   
      
   I wasn't trying to argue that alternate wm/s or dte/s are leaner than   
   ub/gnome which is where these threads typically go; I'm questioning the   
   typical xp vs ub/gnome.   
      
   I have no experience with xp on the same hardware that I've run 98se and   
   lots of different linux distros, but my understanding of xp is that it   
   is a bloated fatty.
