Whilst perusing Usenet on Tue, 20 Feb 2007 06:50:29 +0000,
I read these words from Moog :

   >"Josiah Jenkins" illuminated the devils arse on Tuesday
   >20 February 2007 00:14 in alt.os.linux.ubuntu by typing:
   >
   >> After dabbling on-and-off since about 1968 with
   >> various distros of Linux, that's the first time that
   >> I've ever had a usable installation.
   >
   >Excellent news. I have had similar problems myself.
   >I used various Red Hats, Man* derivatives and
   >OpenSuse distros and it's only Ubuntu that gave
   >me the courage to use Linux full time.

I honestly doubt that I'll use Linux _full-time_.

I came the DOS, 3.11, NT4, W2K, XP Pro route
and having to change and re-learn all the programs
I use seems like an awful lot of hard work.

   I'm retired so it's only a hobby . . .

Although, once I'm a bit more familiar with Ubuntu,
   I suppose I could have a look at WINE . . .
   >
   >> If you were here I'd pour you a drink but I suspect
   >> you're both on the other side of the pond from me.
   >
   >The UK side here.

I'm just South of Glasgow but I regret to say that
when neither of you arrived, I drank your drinks !
(Couldn't have them going to waste, could I ?)
   >
   >> Thanks again for all the help guys !
   >
   >No problem. Although I suspect you actually solved
   >most of the problem yourself.

Certainly I've got a stack of books and manuals here
but it's surprising just how much a few pointers in the
   right direction can help.
