If you get to the right person at att tec support, they can activate it on
their end, then you just set up your router. I think a default password
of 12345 or something is needed. A better route for lin-heads is to use
dslextreme. They give the same deal as att or verison or whatever is in
your area. They have tec support that works, the setup is easier over the
phone. When finished you are on the same network you would be on with att,
but you don't have to deal with the att phonefuck. The only problem I had
with dslextreme, was mistakes I made. They have a default (I don't
remember) authorization, but you can choose. pppoe with username and
   password or without authorization.
I had them turn off authorization, but had my router set up to use it.
That did take a phone call or two to straighten out.

dare to call tec support, but be sure to have plenty of free
    time and patience.
