   Whilst perusing Usenet on Mon, 19 Feb 2007 21:38:37 +0000, I read
   these words from Moog :
   >"Josiah Jenkins" illuminated the devils arse on Monday 19 February 2007
   >20:53 in alt.os.linux.ubuntu by typing:
   >
   >> Thanks for the link to the forum.
   >
   >No problem. It's a handy place. Join, bookmark it.
   >I believe there are now 1/4 million members.
   >
   >>>Then input the following lines one by one
   >>>(copy and paste the kernel version output by uname)
   >>
   >> It didn't like that bit (the C&P) but otherwise AOK !
   >>
   >> Errrr, what did that script actually do ?
   >
   >Heh. It's nothing sinister. You can sleep ok tonight. ;-)

   Trust me, I'm a computer geek ???
   >
   >It simply makes a "symbolic link" to the correct location of tiacx111c16

Just that there were several commands I had never seen before
   and I was curious.
   >
   >OK. I don't think you need to mess around with ndiswrapper.
   >Your card should work without too much fuss.
   >
   >Have you checked out Joe's answer above?

Yes. And I've done what he suggested.

Now I can see *this* laptop (IBM R51 running only
XP Pro) on the (Windows) network and I can
successfuly ping the router but I still have no
   internet connection !

Tried both Firefox and the program depository.

There's no firewall to configure, is there ?
