   If you do this, though, the graphical interface is still loaded and   
   running, just not visible.     
      
   I haven't played with Ubuntu enough to know the answer.  In a redhat   
   environment, you would switch the default runlevel to 3, which does not   
   load x-windows.   
      
   So, what is the same procedure on Ubuntu?
