Yes, that's what I thought. So I bit the bullet and did a complete fresh
install of Ubuntu 6.10
Then I downloaded a fresh driver package from Nvidia and sh-d it.
Exactly the same result as before. Gnome is running but the monitor is
switched off.
I've checked refresh rates and modelines - all fine.
The bloody thing just won't work. If anybody else has managed it with a
Geforce FX5900 I'd really like to know...
