I have Kubuntu Edgy preinstalled. My modem is not working yet.
This is being posted from a different machine.
I have 14 Debian 3.1 CDs and I would like to add these
packages to the repositories available to Adept and aptitude.
But apt-cdrom gives me an error message:

   david@kubuntu:~$ sudo apt-cdrom add
   Password:
   Using CD-ROM mount point /cdrom/
   Unmounting CD-ROM
   Waiting for disc...
Please insert a Disc in the drive and press Enter

Found 0 package indexes, 0 source indexes, 0 translation indexes and 0
   signatures
E: Unable to locate any package files, perhaps this is not a Debian disc

I tried apt-cdrom again, using the -a option for a more throrough
scan. I got the same result. This was with disc 1 of 14 of Debian official 3.1
   Sarge.

Here is some info on how the Debian CD files and folders are structured:

   /cdrom/

FOLDERS: .disk dists doc install isolinux pics pool tools
    LINK: debian
    FILES: autorun.bat autorun.inf md5sum.txt README.html
    README.mirrors.html README.mirrors.txt README.txt

   /cdrom/pool/main/

   FOLDERS: a b c ... and liba libb libc ...

Each of these folders in turn contains sub-folders named for a specific .deb
file, and THOSE folders each contain a .deb file.

It all worked fine when I was running Debian on a different machine. Aptitude
would tell me "Insert disc N" at the appropriate moments. I didn't have to
copy any files to the hard drive, nor write any scripts. I would like to be
able to do the same thing under Kubuntu. But apt-cdrom won't read my discs!

Has anyone else encountered this problem? How do I make it work?

   Thanks for your time.
