   Why not setup an ntp client and configure it to start at boot :)

   first off install the packages:
   sudo apt-get install ntp ntp-simple

   now read the manual a bit to familiarize yourself with the concepts:
   man ntpd

   now create a configuration file called:
   /etc/ntp.conf

   add lines like this to your config file:
   logfile /var/log/ntp
   server a.ntp.alphazed.net
   server bear.zoo.bt.co.uk
   server ntp.cis.strath.ac.uk
   server ntp2a.mcc.ac.uk

   (please note, these servers are good for me in the UK you can find servers
   near you by googling "ntp servers" or similar)

   create a /etc/init.d/ntpd script by making a copy of the skeleton script:
   sudo cp /etc/init.d/skeleton /etc/init.d/ntpd

   edit the script:
   kdesu kate /etc/init.d/ntpd

   change these lines in your script (don't change or remove anything else):
   # Provides: ntpd
   # Required-Start: networking
   # Required-Stop:
   # Default-Start: 2 3 4 5
   # Default-Stop: S 0 1 6
   # Short-Description: Network time protocol client # Description: This
   script starts and stops the ntpd program
   PATH=/usr/sbin:/usr/bin:/sbin:/bin
   DESC="Network Time Protocol Daemon"
   NAME=ntpd
   DAEMON_ARGS="-c /etc/ntp.conf"

   now link your script into the various run levels like this:
   ln -s /etc/init.d/ntpd /etc/rc2.d/S99ntpd
   ln -s /etc/init.d/ntpd /etc/rc0.d/K01ntpd
   ln -s /etc/init.d/ntpd /etc/rc6.d/K01ntpd

   voila! the next time you reboot, your shiny new ntp client will be up and
   running. You can start it immediately of course without a reboot by simply
   typing:
   sudo /etc/init.d/ntpd start

   have fun!
