   FWIW I've had that problem from day one of switching to Feisty.   
   Sometimes it will pick up my external drive and sometimes it won't.   
   Tried endless tinkerings with fstab - and even mtab - to no avail.   
      
   My theory is that it's something to do with the timing of the drive's   
   startup from boot - but it's just a theory....   
      
   Be interested to know if you solve it.
