   It should be pointed out that CS only works if you have the correct   
   cable.  I would think that the jumpers would over-ride the cable, but it   
   might be that you had the drive jumpered for master and connected to the   
   slave position of a cable select cable.  Usually cables that come with   
   motherboards are NOT cable select cables, but those provided by OEM   
   computer makers (such as Dell, HP, or Gateway) are.   
   I do not know how to tell the difference between cables but I bet the   
   cable select type have the connectors marked "master" and "slave" or   
   "primary" and "secondary" or something like that.
