   Across Lite's pages and access to linux .gz downloads are here:

   http://www.litsoft.com/across/alite/download/man/helpfram.htm

   There is a linux dl for elf binary motif
   http://www.litsoft.com/across/alite/download.htm  acrossl.tar.gz
   linuxdyn/acrossl.tar.gz Linux (x86) w/ Motif lib
   linuxsta/acrossl.tar.gz  Linux (x86) w/o Motif lib

   Then, besides the Across Lite stuff, there's xword which is up to v. 1
   now.

   http://linux.softpedia.com/get/GAMES-ENTERTAINMENT/Puzzle/xword-21359.shtml
   xword is a crossword puzzle application that allows users to open and
   solve AcrossLite puzzle format files (such as The New York Times and The
   Washington Post).

   http://linux.softpedia.com/progDownload/X-word-Download-15446.html
   X-word 1.0 - FREE DOWNLOAD - at http://x-word.org/xword-1.0.tar.gz

   None of those are in the ub repositories already, nor can I find a .deb
   package for the .gz.

   So, someone with some experience will have to step in here and advise
   you about what do do with the Across Lite or xword .gz packages.

   Besides there not being any .deb package, there's also not any
   CNR/Linspire type packages I can find.
