Lewis Parker illuminated the devil's arse in alt.os.linux.ubuntu by typing:

   > I have a 6.10 Unbuntu operating system on my hard drive. I have a second
   > Kubuntu cd operasting system cd. Is it possible to add the Kubuntu system
   > to the exist5ing Ubuntu system. I have the space on the hard drive

   Assuming you have broadband...

Open a terminal window "applications > accesories > terminal"

   enter
   sudo apt-get install kubuntu-desktop

Input your password at the prompt.

go and put the kettle on.

You can then change between Gnome and KDE at the "session" section of the
   main log in screen.

Why not go the whole hog and install XFCE too?

   Same process
   sudo apt-get install xubuntu-desktop

Input your password at the prompt

Pop a couple of slices of bread in the toaster....

   Enjoy.
