I havn't had trouble with my 64bit (k)ubuntu system regarding drivers at
all. That may be because of the hardware I selected but I'm running 64
linux on my work notebook computer and 64bit linux on my home PC.

The only trouble I've had so far is the flash plugin in firefox, I
eventually installed 32bit firefox (on my 64bit system) to get flash to
   work.

I'd say, give it a go with an open mind and see for yourself. If you have
some specific problems then give us a shout and we may be able to solve
them, if you don't have trouble great :)

All in all the driver support is better in 64bit linux than it is in 64bit
   Windows.
