   create a script file with your update lines in it.   
   call it xxx.org   
   ensure it is on path an executable.   
   make its last line  "rm xxx"   
   add a cron job in cron.daily to just "cp ~/bin/xxx.org ~/bin/xxx" where "bin"   
   is your   
   executable directory.   
   executr "xxx" from your .bashrc.   
      
   The first time it runs it deletes itself. The cron job will replace it a   
   day later.
