I never kneel or squat or sit on the floor or ground when I'm working
around the house or yard and doing something on the floor or ground that
would require bending, kneeling or squatting.

I always sit on some little 'thing' functioning as a short stool. I
have all sizes of plastic buckets with lids, and step stool, all over
the house, garage and yard, ranging from about 6 inches to about 18
inches high. Or roughly 15-45 cm if you prefer, so I don't have to go
far to get one. I even set a very short step stool on my little wheeled
mover's dolly the other day so I could sit next to the floor and roll
   around.

People may laugh at me sitting on my little plastic buckets, but my back
   and knees appreciate it.
