   OK you've convinced me to escape from the clutches of M$.   
   So where should I start?   
   Googling that question does not produce a straight answer. Yes, I am    
   beginning to realise that's what Open Source means :-)   
      
   As I have an old PC (900mhz, 512mb etc)  I though a good project would be to    
   turn it into a media centre - so got hold of Ubuntu Media Centre and tried    
   to load that ... But it didn't and as I became engulfed in  heavy duty (to    
   me) command line stuff I realised I better start with something easier.   
      
   Is there a site, book, version you would care to recommend to learn the    
   basics?   
   (I went ordered The Official Ubuntu Book - then realised I should have asked    
   here first.)
