   Hello RAM,

It is possible to run *certain* windows applications in Ubuntu by
passing it through an excellent piece of software called "wine".
Unfortunately, not all apps will run successfully, and trial and error
is the only way. There's multitude of help out there if you get stuck.

If wine is not installed, you can do it by opening a terminal window
   and entering the following commands

   sudo apt-get update
   sudo apt-get install wine

The docs for WINE can be viewed here.
   http://www.winehq.com/site/documentation

Basically you need to "install" the software using Wine on Ubuntu as
you would do using windows. This then sets up the program as windows
   would, but from within Ubuntu.
To do the above Windows is not actually required on your system at all.
