   I've not got it installed myself, but I've come across this that may be    
   of help   
      
   "sudo apt-get install mono mono-gmcs mono-gac mono-utils monodevelop    
   monodoc-browser monodevelop-nunit monodevelop-versioncontrol"   
      
   The above line looks like it's installing all of the packages required.    
   Perhaps there's a failure due to one or some of them missing.

   There's also a very hefty monodevelop discussion on ubuntu forums, that    
   while may not specify your particular issue, may be of some interest as    
   there seems to be a few problems with monodevelop and gcc and perl xml    
   apps. Plus other things too.
