Funnily enough but I was a beta tester for the BBC download service. I
applied for it when my ISP was NTL as they had some sort of tie-in
   service. Anyway...

I don't know if anything has changed but the software was a P.O.S.
After installing the software (which was buggy, but it was Beta) I
noticed a slow down in speed. Checking System properties/Services I
noticed a new service (some sort of background upload/download tool).
It appears it works like bittorrent, cutting the BBC's bandwidth down.
which was difficult to close (it kept restarting). I believe the company
that supplies the BBC with this software also has a reputation as a
   spyware vendor.

When I changed ISP's I wiped Windows and re-installed it, vowing never
to allow it to run on my machine again. I don't condone piracy, but if
you are a licence payer, you are better leeching their programs via
Bittorrent or Newsgroups. Oh, the video's (depending on the content)
had a life of 2 days to 2 weeks and it was DRM'd up.

Sorry if i seem to negative, but honestly, nobody is missing anything here.
