Here we all trying to find some solution to the burning of fossil fuels, and
MS come out with a way to destroy the world at a greater accellerated rate.

At the current rate it is estimated that within 80 years we probably will
not have a planet to stand on, certainly not a planet that humans and other
mammals can make use of. But long before that we will be finding things
   very difficult.

Now as Vista rolls out and machines are made capable of running it,
consuming more power, those calculations will have to be reworked. Remember
that more and more PCs are being left on continuously.

Want proof of what damage is viewable right now? Well start with the 'dry'
rain forests. Dry water beds in South American rain forests are not unheard
of, but on the scale of last year it was entirely new. Fires in that rain
forest, for the first time ash patches are being found. This year the
drying is deeper, so those fires are much more likely to happen. Acid in
the seas, some of that carbon does return to land and in the sea, it is
raising the sea's acidic level. Huge areas of corel are now white dead
   colourless under water wastelands.

Why? Because of a three fold attack.

The carbon in the atmosphere reflects heat back down (like a blanket) having
a heating effect on the entire surface of the earth. It also reflects more
of the energy from the sun back out to space. The earth needs that energy
from the sun, it is the fuel that drives the earth's engine.

Next is the soot particals. Rain forms by moisture attaching to tiny
particles, once heavy enough it falls. The ash allows the water to form on
much smaller particles and they are a lot more of them. So it doesn't fall
as easily. That has formed a mirror and that reflects back even more of the
Sun's vital energy. So much so that in 30 years that has reduced by an
   'accurately calculated' 10%.

Then of cause the acid and the direct energy of the Sun. The primary source
of energy in the sea is plankton, all of the main migration patterns are
based around it. This isn't only Whales, if the plankton were not there
then that effectively is the end of all sea life. Yet that too is now down
   by 10%.

This earth is dieing, we are killing it with every wasted light bulb, every
pointless car journey, and every decision we make that means that power
will be used and the power supply companies must put in more energy to
   supply those needs.

Vista being global must be seen then as a contributer to the downfall of the
   planet.

Yeah, I know some of you have laughed and scoffed, 'its only a f'ing
computer'. But just bare in mind that this is the only planet that we can
stand on and breath the air, drink the water and eat the food. There wont
be another one, there wont be communities on mars or the moon or any where
else, where one leaky door can wipe out a whole civilisation, where no
person ever feels the energy of the Sun on their face. You do know don't
you that those who have travelled in space got skin problems don't you? We
humans *need* the energy of the sun on our skins as well as water, air and
   food.

This planet earth is the only place where all of our energy to live and
survive comes from, those other places do not provide those things, even if
by some quirk of fate we could build a colony up there, we still could not
survive without the energy that the earth alone provides directly or
   converts for our use.
