   Don't tell Xubuntu file manager - Thunar - such a thing. Nor utter   
   that to Gnome's Nautilus as it lists "folder" in it's view. "Item" and   
   "object" are sometimes used. As I understand, "file" and "folder" are   
   probably best since everything in Linux is a "file" (object). "Hierarchy"   
   and "tree" would likely confuse the already lost newbie, IMO. The new   
   Linux convert would find "directory" a more meaningful word as opposed to   
   "tree", I'm certain.   
      
   Another point of order: do you typically post from W98 using Mozilla? I   
   have a filter in leafnode covering most Winders-based news agents, so I   
   was not expecting a post from that OS. The filter doesn't include   
   "X-Mailer:". BTW, no offense intended towards you - I have nothing against   
   reading your remarks - getting a post from a Winders news reader is   
   something I wasn't expecting.
