   In the thread I referred DER addressed that subject.   
      
    I sign my messages only when a discussion becomes so heated that   
   someone else tries to confuse the argument by forging my ID on their   
   messages. In that case, I sign to authenticate my own messages.  That   
   situation has not happened in several years.   
      
      
      
   So, routinely signing for years to anticipate the possibility in advance   
   that at some future date you will engage yourself in such a flamefest   
   that someone might decide to spoof your From seems like a lot of signing   
   noise for very very very little useful possible future signal/utility.   
      
   My experience with flamefests is that if one is causing someone else to   
   become aggravated/annoyed with you, you should have probably stopped   
   conversing with them a long time before that.
