    In general, digital signatures on newsgroup messages are annoying.   
      
    I usually sign posts to this newsgroup, on the principle that we   
   it is particularly appropriate to sign here.  Much of the time, these   
   days, I surreptitiously sign other posts.  That is, I conceal a digital   
   signature in the headers.  That's actually enough for protection against   
   forged posts, and removes the annoyance factor.  I will sign this   
   message that way, so can examine the full headers of this message to see   
   the effect.
