   Actually, I spoke too soon! The live disc desktop shows icons    
   for the Ubuntu file system, my external USB drive ( twice!    
   that's why I thought it had seen the C: partition), the floppy    
   drive and the rather redundant Zip drive. The Knoppix live disc    
   saw everything and placed icons for everything but the NTFS    
   partition. As far as I can tell, Ubuntu has found all the    
   hardware but no details seem available for mounting things.
