   OK,

After piddling around with a variety of *nix distros over the last few
years, I've actually plumped for Ubuntu as my distro of choice. I will be
running all my systems with it and therefore hopefully you knowledgeable
folk can help with the following.....

I think I've got a fairly good grasp of the basics, but I would appreciate
some advice on backing up. I've got my system as I would like it, no
issues and very few personal files and would like a full "image" (I know,
I'm showing my windows gobfodder) backup and restore solution.

   Is that possible? Which program?

Also...what do you use for your everyday solution? There seems to be a
number of options and I would prefer recommendations rather than my usual
   "trial and error" route.

   Thanks for your time.
