   I did the same as you - CRT to LCD recently, even hand edited xorg.conf as   
   you mentioned, but I have energy savings with my 6.10 XFCE4 desktop using   
   a Samsung SyncMaster 205BW. Perhaps the difference is just a single simple   
   thing like ? ...
