Despite the fact that this Abit BX6 (V.2) mb says I can boot from the CD-ROM
drive, it won't. I've been doing a google search to see if there is a floppy
Ubuntu startup disk that would allow me begin the installation and chain it
to the Ubuntu CD, that I burned from an ISO file, and appears to work.
I tried flashing the bios yesterday several times with newer bios
versions but though the flashing worked fine the CD-ROM still would not work
as the first device choice in the bios menu. No wonder the friend gave it to
   me free.
Does anyone out there know how I can get Ubuntu installed when this
   situation occurs?
By the way, I currently have XP running on the box and was able to install
using a set of 7 floppies that lets one begin the install from the A: drive
and then switch to the CD-ROM to continue and finish.
   Thanks,
