I just replaced my CRT with an LCD monitor. It is an Acer AL2223Wd.

I reconfigured xorg, and it works OK, with minor text editing to xorg.conf.

But, Kubuntu 6.10 no longer turns off the monitor. It starts the screen
saver as I set, but it does not turn off the monitor like it did with the
   Energy Star CRT I had.

Also, it no longer requires a password to repaint the screen after it is
blanked. I can't find where to configure these functions, but could
before I reconfigured for the new LCD monitor.

Where are those Energy Star fucntions? Is there just a problem with LCD
   monitors not being supported?

   TIA.
