And the difference between a lazy poster with the cursor at the top and
one at the bottom is very little. I'd still argue that cursor at the
bottom (unless your are experienced) is the best way. It indicates that
you should be posting after the quoted text. Snipping and discussion in
context are simply things that have to be learned - just like we have done
   over the years.

   Different strokes for different folks?

   > Regardless, its true.

Laziness? How would you know that the position of the cursor is
responsible for the amount of trimming employed? I still suggest that this
is something that is to be learned.

   > Thats just it, it isnt about YOU,

I didn't say it was. The word "prefer" and the "at least for me" quotes
   are a huge clue.

   > this is a community. You arent doing
   > whats best for you, you should be doing what suits the community and

   > not snip.

I am on Broadband. I snip. I've learned how to post as correctly as
possible. I still argue that, for new posters, a cursor placed at the top
is more likely to enforce poor posting than one at the bottom.

   > But it isnt. Come on over to a group that discusses news readers full

I've been in there. It seems to be constant discussions about Xnews
problems. I'd rather stay in here and find out about Ubuntu for now.

I will be trying slrn when I have some time. I *will* be pestering you
   for advice when I do.

   Heh. True.
