   I recently installed the xfce desktop environment on my Gnomish Ubuntu    
   machine. Today when I changed sessions, I found that the cursor never    
   seemed to resolve from the spinning counter. I also was unable to log    
   out of the xfce desktop. Was forced to reboot to switch back to Gnome.    
   As I used Synaptic to install the xfce desktop, I suppose that I should    
   un-install the same way. I hadn't noted this problem untill updating    
   the kernel earlier this afternoon. Perhaps there is some    
   incompatibility?
