Last week I wrote about problems installing my (rather old) SB sound card
and my printer in Kubuntu. I had another look at it this week and
installing the printer was by far the smaller of the the "problems". The
driver is not as good as the one HP supplies for Windows though (no 2,4,
or more pages per sheet) but will do.

The sound card problem took longer to solve, but finally I found out how
to solve it. The solution is on this useful page:

"Many older devices are not automatically detected by the
current 2.6 kernel series. (...) Unfortunately if you have an older sound
card, it means you need to roll your sleeves up and poke around to get it
running. To do this you need to know which kernel module your card needs
and then load the module yourself." (the page contains a list of modules)
