   > the top, because that is very close to where the trimming should begin.

Again, I would disagree with that. If the cursor is positioned at the
bottom it at least forces the poster to have a rethink and perhaps read
the whole post in context. I would certainly agree that once you have
mastered usenet, an option to place the cursor at the top could come in
handy. Personally, that is not my bag at all.

   > I believe that positioning the cursor at the bottom tends to lead some
   > posters to untrimmed bottom posting, which is also very bad.

Nope. Sorry. I disagree again. That's just pure laziness. A trait that is
more and more common in society. Still, I must say, I prefer that to top
posting. The "limited bandwidth" days have gone...at least for me.

I think we'll have to agree to disagree.

   > behavior of the poster.

Again I disagree. How do you behave on usenet as a new user? It's simple,
you lurk and learn. However, we seem to have lost that. The news vogue is
"post and learn". If the software at least made you *think* how to
converse on usenet (like most dedicated ones do), then that's a hell of a
   good start.

And it should not be used for usenet in it's standard form.

We are talking about new users here. Not experts.
