   I think everyone agrees as to what has to happen, but it is unpalatable    
   for some. They will see it as 'selling out' open source and diluting    
   their philosophy. Instead, they should concentrate on getting GNU/Linux    
   to critical mass, encouraging driver writers without moaning about    
   closed source and spreading the word. Once it has grown to the point    
   where it is widely adopted and used, then would be the time to move back    
   to the original philosophy.   
      
   Now is the time to act. Vista FUD is everywhere (justified IMHO) and    
   apathy towards this new OS is rife in the popular press. I am not    
   saying Linux would be the alternative, but now is the time that Linux    
   can make inroads. paraphrasing a phrase about American immigration.
