   Not sure I agree. As you can see Ubuntu (based on many peoples thoughts    
   in here) wants to hide the command line from noobs. I still cant get to    
   other pure consoles by using CTL + ALT + F1 - F6 I get a blank screen.   
      
   No Console for you! Next!   
      
   That said, stopping GDM and installing the nvidia drivers without using    
   apt or automatix (which worked flawlessly for me) would require compiling    
   and Ubuntu does not load the build-essential package by default. You    
   think the newbs are screaming now!
