   When I had this problem I just cleaned out some other partitions that I   
   didn't need, moved some stuff from my home directory onto them and put   
   links in my home to the appropriate directories on them. Now I have, for   
   example, all my music on a separate partition but I can still access it as   
   /home/me/music. That meant that I didn't need to do any partition   
   resizing or anything. YMMV of course...
