   OK, Derspankster, I'm really puzzled by your lack of success so if    
   you're up to another try here's a minutely detailed recipe along with    
   the driver for bcm4318 (bcmwl5.inf and bcmwl5.sys). This approach    
   assumes a fresh install, uses DHCP, and is not for WPA but will allow    
   WEP. It's worked many times for me but, of course, your results may    
   vary.  Hope it helps.
