   I can only offer my experience (but no fix I'm afraid). It's a feature of   
   the monitor and/or graphics card; I connect a PC to an LCD TV via DVI and   
   nothing displays ("Mode Not Supported") until the OS loads the drivers. So,   
   nothing to do with Linux (or any OS) I don't think.
