   I believe when you click on the Install icon and proceed to the disk   
   allocation part of the install one of the options reads "use the largest   
   available "free" disk space. Most likely this is what you would want to   
   select. That is, of course, unless your windows install is full disk. Then   
   you will have to re-partition and allocation free space.    
   Regarding how much space to allocate? It depends on how much "free" space   
   you have. You can start on the smaller side and if you adapt well to   
   ubuntu you can eventually enlarge the partition. Of, as the revisions   
   come available, you can backup your data from your partitions and do a full   
   reinstall then load your data back on. That way you can partition what   
   ever way you like. By that time you should have a much better idea of what   
   your partition sizes should be.
