This is how most users who are afraid or too lazy or just don't know
how to type more than two words per minute think. The CLI is no more
archaic than clicking on an OK button but it is definately more
   powerful.

Well, if one does not have the memory capacity to remember a few
commands, I guess there is no hope and there will continue to be
people asking for help in these groups. Soon, memory capacity will
degrade to the point that people refuse to learn how to work a mouse.

People do not memorize all of the commands anyway. Just a few helpful
ones like "man", "info", and "help". I agree, pretty hard stuff. After
all, there are still people who cannot figure out how to use the
GUItools available. This is very apparent by looking at Windows help
groups. If the damn GUI was the cure all that everyone says it is, why
   are there Windows help groups?

It's not about GUI vs. CLI. It's apparent that some people can do
   without one or the other.
If something is easier to do in GUI, then do it that way. If something
is easier in CLI, do it that way. To introduce someone to Linux, is to
introduce people to the CLI also. Asking the experts in these groups
to not show people their way of doing things is unrealistic. After
all, they are the experts. Now we have newbies telling these experts
that they shouldn't be trying to teach CLI stuff for some reason or
other. Pretty stupid if you ask me. But that's probably why they are
here asking for help anyway. Please note that I'm not talking about
all new Linux users, just the ones that refuse to listen to the advice
they are given because they can't be troubled to learn the system they
are asking for help to learn.
