   This is very misleading advice. Many windows apps do not run properly   
   under Wine and the overhead of running them in a virtual machine is not   
   an option for many people. WINE is so poorly configured and subject to   
   so many changes that google shipped picasa for Linux with a frozen   
   version.   
      
   I would ask the OP if he is sure that the Windows apps are a must have.   
      
   The only app of note I really miss is Frontpage which despite its   
   detractors, is a fairly stable and easy to use wysiwig html editor.
