   Let me clarify the problem. I transferred a bunch of html, txt, rtf   
   and doc files via a usb memory stick from a Windows pc to Linux   
   (Kubuntu = Debian) pc. Currently I am working with the html files, but   
   they are a mess in the Linux html editors I tried (Quanta, Kate), no   
   diacritics are shown at all, but weird symbols instead, so I am forced   
   to use Windows.
