   hi,

i have an older laptop pC that I wanted to try Linux on.
touble is, the CD reader doesnt seem to want to read modern, 700 meg
CD's, i think in the old days, CD's were smaller in size like 650 meg.

it currently has that horrible windows ME on it; I want to wipe ME off
and totally re-format the drive - which I assume Linux will do. But How
do i force a cd READ of the new linux releases which seem all to be 700
   meg?

thanks for any helpful kitchen hints.
